5 things I've learnt living away from home

1. How to finally properly spend money

Realising & knowing how to not abuse my spending is probably one of my most useful skills in life. + I’ve come to realise my responsibility in having to pay rent and bills on time. I learnt the hard way, when I first started renting in 2016, I thought I would receive an invoice to pay rent... guess what, I woke up one day with an eviction notice sent to me! cause I didn't pay rent for over a month.

2. Setting up a home all by myself

Which energy provider should I go with?! Which Wi-Fi plan is the fastest?! Oh no!! I don’t have any furniture!! So I go to IKEA & start contemplating if I need to buy every little thing they have – & guess what, I have to go back to IKEA again because I DIDN’T buy every. little. thing. Rule number 1, don’t forget to buy food clips for opened bags and more storage boxes!

3. The joy in cooking

Let me be clear, I’m not a chef so don’t expect me to cook you a three course meal. What I mean by “good” is that, I’ve learnt the basics of cooking – I can make some decent dishes & I can safely say that I am not ashamed to cook for anyone (except if you’re reeeally good at cooking, i mean, u might as well cook for me lmao)

4. Always cook more than you can eat because – leftovers

I love leftovers because when you’re too lazy to cook, you can always just reheat the food you have in your fridge & voilà! dinner is ready. bonus tip: u don’t even need to wash more dishes

5. I love living by myself but sometimes it sucks

Don’t get me wrong, living alone is great. I’ve spent majority of my time loving it but sometimes it does get pretty lonely especially when you're so far away from home.. & that’s why I love Netflix. I keep it running in the background so I don’t feel alone.

That’s all I can think of now.

‘till then. xx
